This service is for people living with HIV/AIDS and their families. It is strongly encouraged because it teaches the tools for making informed choices, behaviour and well-being. Patients receiving Post-Test therapy tend to fare much better than those who don't. The treatment focuses on emotional and physical support and includes an educational chapter. Therapy, and especially therapy which is ongoing is advised for patients and/or family because it motivates positivity , develops support and guidance capabilities, and relieves the intense burden of stress, anxiety, mood adjustments, and other conditions which usually present post-diagnosis.
Sustainability is the key to successful behavioral modification with this program. It is vital that the patient remain positive and inspired at all times to eliminate the chance of any emotional relapse during treatment.
This service can be included into a Palliative Care Program, depending on the patients condition or capabilities.
